I'm having a bad hair day...

I have literally joined the rat race . Pay Per Post, who rejected me a couple of times because my blog was fairly new and does not have enough "quality content", finally gave me the thumbs up. So for the past several days of my heightened motivation to make money online, I've been rearranging and experimenting with my blog to get my ranking from goggle pagerank, and in order for me to start writing for Pay Per Post which is part of the requirement. I've also been so keen in making money with adsense and other affiliate stuff that I loaded up my sidebar with all kinds of ads. Guess what happened? I woke up this morning, check my google analytics and found what I have always feared. Readers are not coming back like they used to. I have abandoned what got me here in the first place which is posting Comiqs and humorous personal views. I got so engrossed with the hundreds of blogs I surfed everyday about online money making ideas that I have totally done a extreme makeover without even knowing it. Change is something I seldom do at the spur of the moment. But somehow, I got hypnotized by the thousands of headlines I saw while surfing, stating make money this, make money that, and burn your bridges to start something new, etc. It took a post that I came across today from Pinay Mommy Online and Bloggernoob to realize the big mistake I've done.

An excerpt from Bloggernoob, "...If you change the tone of your blog, you’ll see a drop in traffic. If your readers are used to a certain kind of posts, you better keep that going. Change is something that people don’t seem to like. Being too straight forward could hurt your blog..." (read more)

Am I having a bad hairday? Heck yeah! But I'm also glad, I caught my mistake early. I should have known better. Resiliency has always been incorporated within me so I know that bouncing back to correct my error will be easy. I say enjoy what you're doing, do what you do best, streamline the people you want to listen to, but keep an open mind, relax, take it easy and everything will just fall into place.

LOL on the pictures on bad hair day.

hmm I dont fully agree with the honesty remark. I'd adjust that advice to perhaps instead of giving ure reader the full gory 100% details, or making it too long, give 80% or something.

My site is honest, and luckily my few readers like it. Yeah some pages have more ads than content which makes readers feel its more about making money than blogging

Thanks for dropping by. I agree with you about posting an honest feeling or opinion. I only took part of the advice. Anyway, I'm glad you like the pictures. You should try comiqs, it's so fun to use.

Hi Rhea,
After reading your post, I realized that I had never gone back to blogs with "pay per post" posts in them. I think you can have some ads in your pages as long as they are kept to a minimum as it could be distracting to others. Your blog is very attractive and nice, I must learn to improve my decorating skill as my blog looks dull :)

Was thinking of exploring PPP but will rethink after reading your post. Cheers!

hi! adsense and one or two ad buttons is all you need if you are just starting(but i stuck with this format even up to now). plenty of ads on your site makes it slow, esp. for dial-up connections...cheers!

I think people will read return as long as you have a viewpoint. I personally don't mind ads, if they are in addition to great content, or a very entertaining writing style.

You made a vital discovery. Establishing your own path, along with your own style of presentation, is essential to building, and keeping, an audience.

Hello all,

Many thanks for dropping by. I'm sure that PayPerPost is still a good way to make money online, I have read and heard testimonials from other bloggers whose site have a google pagerank make a living of PPP. I will still try and work on the pagerank but my priority right now is to make you smile and interested in my posts. Regarding the adsense ads, I get a few clicks in week on them which means a few cents from time to time. One thing I discovered though is the adsense for search, that's the goggle search you see in my site, has a fairly good payout when someone use it to search. I just found that out today. It's against adsense TOS to say your earnings online. So, I leave that up to your imagination...LOL

May you have the greatest day ahead. Goodluck and happy surfing.

It's not against the TOS to say your earnings as long as you don't mention the details (the CPM part) :)

I fell to the same trap like you before, focusing on the money, more than the passion for blogging :(
Sadly but true.

In regards to the PayPerPost, I read that Google is penalizing blogs that are posting because they are getting paid. Some blogs get their ranks zeroed.

I've joined PayPerPost, but decided not to go for it.. being penalized by Google is the worst that you can have!!

Don't matter to much about paid post, sometimes those posts just spoil the content quality of your blog.

Cheers.

When you choose to do something because you love it, then the money will come. If you choose to do something for the money, then you sense of fulfillment and happiness may be somewhere else. Choices can be changed.

Hi Michael,

Thanks for pointing out about goggle's TOS, I'm happy I could tell you about the cents I earn from goggle adsense...lol

Anyway, I never knew that google is penalizing blogs that use payperpost paid articles. I have to research more on that. Thanks for dropping by.

Just write from your heart, and loyal traffic will come. I will be here regardless of what your content is... I love the posts. If the ads interest me I will click on them... If not, know that I have come and received a laugh...

God Bless, and Happy Easter!
